Basic House Orientation -Sunlight

House orientation is the location of a home in a property relative to the points of the compass. Good orientation means minimizing the exposure of rooms to direct sunlight; the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

A poor orientation house have west-facing bedrooms. This houses require extra cooling. Air conditioning units  or ceiling fans will have to run constantly to cool the rooms.

Good orientation brings in sunlight into rooms. Usually facing the north side. This is the most ideal side of the rooms due to the consistent natural lighting. But at the same time a lot less warm.
